Our Nicaraguan Animal Friends!

The cashew vendor had a pair of parrots who would eat nuts right out of our hands!

They were so gentle and sweet.  The birds ate more nuts than we did!

Our first hostage.  We named him Apple.

Apple didn't want to go for a swim...

Danni wasn't afraid of Apple....

After playing with Apple, she begged Daddy to catch every 'wizard' that we encountered....

A street urchin made Danni a grasshopper...

A Nic chick...
We met a baby monkey on the street....

She wanted to bring her home...

Chickie love!

Danni caught a few baby wizards...  this one was also named Apple...

And so was this one...

At least one of them was comfortable!

The parrot helped style my hair!  It tickled!

In San Juan del Sur, there were crabs living in holes on the side of the road.  Danni caught one on a stick!

They were super pretty -- bright orange and blue.... but their claws were ugly!
We caught tons of teeny sand crabs with tickly feet!

THIS is the size crabs should be!
We found a kitty and made him happy!  :)

We met lots of friendly animals while we were in Nicaragua!!  Danni and I became quite skilled at catching lizards, feeding birds and wrangling crabs... There were all kinds of stray doggies around, but we knew better than to pet them (or to share our treats with them!)  Our favorite animal was a snuggly white kitty that lived at one of the hotels in San Juan del Sur.  He loved to be loved on... but he made us miss our kitties at home!!
