Nicaraguan Treats!!

We arrived on Nicaraguan Mother's Day ... there were tons of cakes being sold by the street vendors!

She picked a pink one!  (And it actually tasted yummy!!)

Danni loved the ladies that sold fresh fruit each morning!  For just a few cents, she enjoyed bananas, watermelon, pineapples and mangoes!   She said it was deeelicioso!  I took her word for it!

Waiting for our lunch at an outdoor cafe!  Danni chose the pink chair, of course!

The hot weather meant that we needed lots of cool treats!  Danni loved her firs encounter with gelato!
Nicaraguan pizza!  It was ALMOST as good as American pizza!
There wasn't a shortage of yummy desserts!
Nobody told me that these were PLANTAIN chips...
American waffles for breakfast!
We bought freshly roasted cashews from the street vendors.  SO yummy!!
We cooked some of our own meals while we were there!  This is one of the markets where we bought our fruits and veggies!

Watermelon gobbler!  "I'm leaving NONE for Daddy!!"

We had lots of fun sampling all of the yummy goodies that Nicaragua had to offer!!  I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Nicaragua's sweets tasted just as yummy as the ones I was used to in America!!  We arrived on Nicaraguan Mother's Day, so all of the restaurants and bakeries had special cakes to celebrate.  We had one every night until they ran out!!  We also loved the street treats -- fresh fruit and cashews were delicious snacks!!!   I was a little worried about what we'd eat while we were on vacation ... but I shouldn't have worried!  Nicaragua had hamburgers, fries, pancakes, quesadillas, ice cream, cookies, pizza, ketchup, and waffles!!  Danni and I enjoyed all of our American favorites and tried some new tastes as well!
