Islita Tour

Walking the plank to our boat!

Life jackets!  So we can be safe!!
Danni picked a whole bunch of monkey fruit!

"Why is this called monkey fruit?"

We took the fruit to our friends on Monkey Island!

He looked hungry!

Thankfully, he only wanted fruit, not a small child, for a snack!

I LOVED feeding the monkeys!

Heading back to shore!
We took a day trip from Granada to explore the islitas (little islands) on Lake Nicaragua.  Danni and I weren't very impressed by the land forms...  but we LOVED visiting the only islita that had monkeys living on it (called "Monkey Island") ...  Our tour guides stopped at a neighboring islita and let us pick fruit (they called it "monkey fruit" from the trees.  The monkeys were SO happy to have a snack delivered to them.  :)  (And Mommy was thrilled that no one fell off the side of the boat or got bitten by a rabid third world wild animal in the process of monkey-feeding!)  It was pretty cool to see all of the houses that had been built on the islitas.  Several of them were owned by American families!  And, the going rate for an islita is pretty reasonable...  For about $100K, you can buy one of your very own!  Guess I'd better start saving my allowance!! ;)
