Chocolatiers!

Getting ready to learn about CHOCOLATE!!

First we had to roast the cacao beans over the hot coals.  It smelled like hot chocolate!

Next we had to take the cacao bean out of its shell.

One of the few vacation pictures with all four of us in it...  Kinda...

I liked taking pictures of all the action as well!

Danni put some muscle into grinding up the cacao beans with a mortar and pestle.

I was a pretty strong squisher myself!!

The squished beans made a paste, not a powder like I had predicted.

Melted chocolate... ready for mix-ins!

I added oreos to my melted chocolate!

Danni added some m&m's and sprinkles!

Danni's and Mommy's candy bars... all ready to chill out!

A family of chocolate lovers!!!
While we were in Granada, we visited the Chocolate Museum.  They had a really cool class there where you could learn about how chocolate was made... and you could make your own dark chocolate candy bars!!  This was RIGHT up our alley!  I also found out that chocolate making involved FIRE!  This made me love it even more!!  The class was really hands-on (and tongues-on too -- we got to taste test all kinds of sweet and yummy treats -- different types of chocolate and several chocolate drinks!)  Mmmmm!  My favorite part was at the end when we got to make our own chocolate bars.  We got to pick the mix-ins... then the bars chilled for a few hours.  Afterward we had a delicious chocolate treat!!!
