Placing Remembrance Flags for Memorial Day

Gathering  all the flags that she could carry... we had a big job ahead of us!

I carried a big load of flags too!

The flower vase thingie made a handy flag carrier.

The ground was tough, so we had to work at getting the flags planted!

Taking a little break ...

It looked so beautiful when all of the flags were in place!

Getting a workout!

Running back to get more flags!

Racing to grab the flag that the wind blew over before it touched the ground!

Placing a flag for Grandpa Robert.

Danni's Daisies!

It was an impressive sight!

We visited Papa Harold  and Mama Sue in the columbarium

Even though we are squinting, the sea of flags behind us is beautiful!
We get to do a ton of activities with Danni's Daisy troop, this one was one of my favorites!!  We got to go help place flags on the graves at Riverside National Cemetery!  Every person interred there has a flag placed on his or her grave as a way to thank them for their service to our country.  It was an amazing way to learn about the meaning of Memorial Day.  I couldn't believe that each flag represented a person who had died.  There were so many flags!!  Danni and I visited Grandpa Robert's grave and placed a flag for him.  We also visited Papa Harold and Mama Sue in the columbarium section.  This was a very meaningful way to start of our Memorial Day weekend!!
